"Art Crimes" Part 2 - Left 4 Dead Graffiti

One thing Valve did a great job on with the Left 4 Dead games is telling stories through the environments. More subtle forms of this were things such as finding a dead body with a blanket draped over them, showing that this person meant something to someone who was trying to give them some dignity in their death.

While less subtle, another cool form of passing storytelling through the game's environments is the plethora of graffiti writings you can find in the game's environments, especially it's safe rooms. reading over these, you can get a glimpse of the stories of countless other people in the game's world.

Some spoilers ahead, so if you've never played through all the Left 4 Dead 1 Campaigns, I recommend doing so first (if you have the game)!

Some of the graffiti can be quite sad. While at the same being vandalized itself  by the childish comments of others, just like a youtube comment section.

A terrifying thought, and something you do get to see in one of the levels!
...By the way, C and L, it's spelled "we're" in this context...*adjusts her snooty nerd glasses*

Jesus. Valve predicted covid 19 internet conspiracy weirdos.

I have mixed feelings about the internet, myself...

Some of the graffiti can be rather humorous.

Some foreshadowing that could warn a new player about the dangers of bothering one of the "Witch" infected. Also, I like the goat person pencil art there.

More hints about infected, along with a note from a happy psychopath.

Some unsettling writings after a very memorable scene involving a man hiding inside the ruins of a church.

The Stanley Parable (Steam 2015 PC) Review (Old)

This one is highly recommended! you take control of Stanley, and set out to discover what is happening at your office, with the trusty narrator at your side. Things get interesting when you realize that you can screw around in all sorts of ways, resulting in anything from a happy ending to surreal hilarity to your own tragic demise. Your narrator will do his best to help you along, but he can also only take so much of your bumbling... Pros Brilliant voice acting Hilarious, clever, brutally honest narration Well-made visuals and audio, highly immersive The Adventure Line! The demo is actually an entirely separate story of its own. that's pretty awesome. Give it a try too! Cons None that I can think of, unless you count running out of endings to discover. 2023 Additions: Since I wrote this review, the game has received updates and even been ported to Xbox One! So thankfully, you are no longer restricted to steam for playing this great little game. Someday, I want to sit d...

Dead Space (Xbox 360) Review

Dead Space is a survival horror game set in - you guessed it - space! Specifically, the USG Ishimura. You'll follow protagonist Isaac Clarke as what started as a an attempt to fix up a spacecraft turns into an wonderful example of "everything that can go wrong definitely will". The story takes several twists and turns and you'll even get to venture beyond the game's central location a few times! As usual, I won't go too deep into the story because I'd like you to be able to experience it for yourself if you've never played the game! I quite it enjoyed it though, and the game created a good sense of isolated fear while also making me concerned for the safety of Isaac's few surviving crew-mates throughout the game. The combat is very intense as most of the creatures you'll encounter move in a very violent and erratic manners, and you'll want to target their weak points - usually the limbs. Thankfully, the game has a cool upgra...
